|
|
I've visited three of the newer card rooms in the city. Aquarium is begging to get busted. Wallstreet shut down yet again and All-In is trying to be the next NYPC. I guess finding a smaller club is better because there is CONTROLLED action.
I visited that new spot in Soho in the office building, it was pretty cool. They had three tables and the same dealers ffrom the other clubs that i recognized, and it was a bit more secure. Not just anyone could come in. Anyway, i guess you have to call them to get in, i have the guy barry's number if you want membership 917 [deleted by webmaster] just tell him josh sent you. I'd like to see more players there. They always have at least two tables running, like 5-5 and 1-2, but it would be nice to have rematches with those freaks from playstation who can't play!!
hahahah. see you in the clubs
[Webmaster: Given the current climate surrounding the clubs, no specific contact/location info about clubs should be posted to the forum. Please contact the poster directly via PM if you would like that info.] |

I was an (occasional) regular player at NY Players Club. I'm worried about all the publicity the clubs have been receiving, and attention from you know who. Could it result in more clubs being shut down?

| plenty of clubs to play... there are clubs in Long island if you don't mind the drive, and a lot of small places opening up in the city. Wall street is rumored to be opening back up in a week as well. |

| Why exactly were the places closed? Was it for the poker itself, or were they doing some other, bigger stuff? |

They were closed because of the poker. THere was an article in the NYTimes about it, and apparently the clubs operate in an alleged grey area of the law (although the authorities believe that the law is pretty clear). It is not illegal to play poker for money in a private club, so long as the pots are not raked by the club.

I have played at least four times at the new soho club. i really like it there and the club is busy every night, but the game breaks around 3am and then i go to all in, where now that i think of it, might also be begging to get raided.
the soho place is really secure. even the security guards give a heads up if anything is weird. but so far, not so much. it's really a nice cool place. |

If you can spare the time coming out of the city the brooklyn players club is a good alternative. good games with a safe atmosphere. mix of younger and older players.
They have nlhe all the time but keep asking for limit players so if you know any...spread the word |
